“The alarm went off Tuesday” vs “it was handled Tuesday”

An unmonitored alarm is a very loud request for a neighbour to maybe glance over.

A monitored one triggers a sequence: a professional 24/7 centre sees the activation and which zone, calls your listed contacts in order, and - if you choose - dispatches a patrol guard to physically check the property. Everything logged, every hour of every day.

Plans, plainly

All plans month-to-month – no 36 or 48-month lock-in. Most of the industry contracts you for years; we’d rather earn the renewal every month. Cancel anytime with notice. Prices incl. GST.

Plan What happens on activation Per month
Essential 24/7 centre response – calls your contact list per your instructions, full event logging $29
Plus Essential + arm/disarm schedule checks for business (“the shop didn’t arm at 6pm – calling the manager”), open/close reporting $39
Guard Response Plus + patrol dispatch to physically inspect on activation $49 + per-callout guard fee

Connection paths: IP (fibre) as standard; 4G cellular signalling available as primary or backup (one-off unit ~$295 installed) so a cut phone line or dead internet can’t silence your alarm – the path we recommend for businesses and higher-risk homes.

Already have an alarm? Most existing panels – Bosch, Paradox, DSC, Ajax and more – connect to our monitoring with a reprogramming visit (typically $100-$200), whoever installed them.

Monitoring vs “the app will tell me”

Self-monitoring apps are genuinely useful – until the activation lands while you’re on a long-haul flight, at your kid’s recital, or asleep with Do Not Disturb on.

Monitoring exists for exactly those gaps: a staffed centre that never has its phone on silent, follows your written plan (call Dad first, then the neighbour, then send a guard), and keeps a timestamped log insurers and Police can use.

Many insurers offer premium discounts for professionally monitored properties – for a lot of homes the discount funds a meaningful chunk of the monthly fee. Best answer for most people: both – app alerts for awareness, monitoring for action.

For businesses, monitoring is also management

Beyond break-in response: late-to-arm alerts (the centre notices the site never armed and chases it), out-of-hours disarm verification (“someone opened the warehouse at 2am – password check, or guard dispatch”), open/close reports by staff code, and multi-site oversight on one account.

Pairs with commercial CCTV for video-verified activations – the centre sees what tripped the sensor, which slashes false-alarm guard fees and gets Police treating verified events seriously.

FAQs

How much does alarm monitoring cost in NZ?

Typically $25-$50/month across the market - often on 36-48-month contracts. Ours runs $29-$49/month, month-to-month.

Can you monitor my existing alarm?

Almost always - most panels reprogram to our centre for a one-off $100-$200, keeping all your existing sensors. The rare unmonitorable relic gets an honest upgrade quote instead.

What happens when my alarm activates?

The centre receives the signal with zone detail within seconds and follows your response plan: contacts in your order, guard dispatch if selected, everything logged. You set the plan; you can change it anytime.

What if my internet or phone line goes down - or gets cut?

IP-monitored systems report path failures; with the 4G unit, signalling continues over cellular regardless. Panels run battery backup through power cuts. Belt, braces.

Does monitoring reduce insurance premiums?

Many NZ insurers discount for professionally monitored alarms - ask yours, and we'll supply the monitoring certificate they'll want.

What does a guard callout cost?

A per-attendance fee (varies by area - stated upfront when you choose the plan), charged only when a guard is actually dispatched. Video verification via CCTV integration keeps false dispatches rare.
