How much does access control cost in NZ?
A quality standalone single door starts around $1,500 installed; networked systems typically run $1,500-$3,000 per door plus controller/software, depending on door hardware and scale. Fixed itemised quote after a site walk-through - with a staged path if you want two doors now and six later.
What happens when someone loses a fob (or leaves)?
You cancel that credential in the software - ten seconds, zero locksmiths, everyone else unaffected. This single feature usually pays for the system.
Can I see who entered and when?
Yes - every credential event is logged and reportable: by person, door, or time range. Invaluable for incidents, timesheet disputes and audits alike.
Can doors unlock automatically during business hours?
Yes - schedule the front door free-entry 9-5, secured otherwise, with holidays handled. Fire egress is always maintained regardless: locked in, never locked out of escaping.
Phone instead of fob?
Mobile credentials are supported on the platforms we install - Bluetooth/NFC entry from the user's phone, issued and revoked remotely. Great for distributed teams and contractors.
Does it work with our existing alarm and cameras?
Usually, and ideally - integrated platforms (Protege especially) run access + alarm as one system, with CCTV tied in. We'll audit what you have and design around it rather than replacing for replacement's sake.
